While working on his M.A. he developed an original course examining the interconnected history of music and art from the Greeks to the 20th century. He also studied studio arts and architectural history while earning his undergraduate degree at Cleveland State University. Professionally, Matthew has presented papers on such topics as the significance of Wagnerian opera on post-impressionism and Robert Arneson’s Jackson Pollock inspired ceramic works. Matthew also has over 10 years of experience in high-end picture framing and installation, designing original frames for works by Picasso, Rauschenberg and Sol Lewitt. Matthew teaches History of Art, Costume, and Architectural Interiors as well as Art Fundamentals and Color Theory. Patty Flauto Fashion Merchandising and Graphic Design Instructor Ms. Flauto holds a Master in Fine Arts and is a practicing fine artist. Her paintings are mixed media and are displayed in several art galleries around town. She specializes in color theory, basic design and layout and art fundamentals. She focuses her work on consumer product development and creativity training. Some of her clients include American Greetings, Progressive Insurance, Rubbermaid, Medical Mutual and Corning. Alex Hosack Interior Design Instructor Amanda Leininger Interior Design Instructor Lonny Levenson Interior Design Instructor Cristina McCarthy Interior Design Department Chair Ms. McCarthy holds a Master degree in Urban Planning and Design as well as a Bachelors of Architecture. While pursuing her studies, Ms. McCarthy focused on many interior details and design. She has worked for architecture firms in the USA and in Brazil. She is the present Interior Design Department Chair at The NCC where she has been teaching since 1990. She also works as an independent designer and space planner. Mrs. McCarthy has been actively involved on the board of directors for ASID OH North Chapter and was the President from 2012 to 2013.
